English: The house located at 3410 Volta Place NW in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., was constructed as two separate buildings in 1853 and 1856. It housed slaves and freedmen before the Civil War, including Samuel Owens, William Crown, Mary Doynes, and Charity Butler. After the war, occupants included German diplomats Gerrit von Haeften and Gustav Struve, and Ambassador James G. Lowenstein. The house is a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District.
