Deutsch: Das 3. Ostpreußische Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 79 der Preußischen Armee wurde mit Stiftungstag vom 1. Oktober 1912 gegründet. Das Regiment hatte seine Garnison in Osterode in Ostpreußen (heute Ostróda). In der Friedensgliederung bis 1914 gehörte das Regiment zur 41. Feldartillerie-Brigade (Sitz in Deutsch-Eylau), diese zur 41. Division (ebenfalls Deutsch-Eylau), und diese zum XX. Armee-Korps (Sitz in Allenstein).
