'16er Buam' are dedicated to 'Wienerlied' (approximately: Schrammelmusik) -- not by conserving those melodies, but by living them, developing and composing, whilst using the traditional instruments of a minimized "Schrammel" group.
The duo gathered in 1995. Its name, Viennese slang for Boys from the 16th, is derived from Vienna's 16th district where they come from [this district, btw., is also well known for Ottakringer brewery].
- Klaus P. Steurer, *1975 -- contraguitar, wooden spoons ;) and vocals
- Patrick Rutka, *1977 -- was taught by his grandfather at the age of 5 to play Diatonic button accordion, and later also played Schrammel accordion -- as of now, he is the only Viennese professional musician playing both types of button accordions.
