The gasoline station at the northwest corner of 12th and Hamilton Streets first opened in April 1922. It is the oldest continually-operated gasoline station in Allentown today, a century since it first opened.

Initially an Atlantic Gasoline station, Atlantic was then part of the Standard Oil Trust. The 1922 station was replaced in 1963 with a combination gasoline service station, which provided mechanical repairs to vehicles. It sold Atlantic gasoline until 1966 when Atlantic merged with Richfield Oil Corporation to form the "Atlantic-Richfield Co.", better known as ARCO. The service service station was torn down in 1980, becoming a self-service ARCO gas station. Also a convience store, an "AM-PM Mini-Market" was built on the site. The self-service gas pumps as well as the combination of gasoline sales and a convience store was one of the first of its type in Allentown, and it was used as a training store for other AM-PM managers. In 1986, the convience store was rebranded by ARCO as the "A-Plus Mini-Market".

In 1988, after an unsuccessful spinoff from ARCO, Atlantic was acquired by Sunoco, which operates the station today. The former A-Plus mini-market, a legacy from it's ARCO ownership, was taken over by Southland Corporation and became a 7-11 about 2009, although it still sells Sunoco gasoline.
