English: The Avro Shackleton was a piston-engined military aircraft built by Avro and named after the polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. It served with the Royal Air Force in Anti-submarine warfare (ASW), maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), Airborne Early Warning (AEW), Search and rescue (SAR) and other roles from 1951 until 1990.
