Alexander A. Vandegrift

English: Alexander Archer Vandegrift (March 13, 1887 – May 8, 1973) was a general in the United States Marine Corps. He commanded the 1st Marine Division to victory in the Battle of Guadalcanal and later was the 18th Commandant of the Marine Corps. For his actions at Guadalcanal, he was awarded the Medal of Honor.
