Hello, Justinianus!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

The line Non-free media use rationale - non-free logo for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre should have been a hint. --Filnik\b[Rr]ock\b!? 11:27, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Kadı Message 19:20, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Re email[edit]

You know who uploaded the image, and they were the person that requested the deletion, and it being within the allowable timeframe I undertook the deletion.

With regard to WP users and their detail. It is not a living person, and it is a memorial of a deceased person in a public space. They photographed the publicly available data as I see it. The release has the information that was made available that the family released. It is no different from a published death notice, etc. It may not have been public prior to the headstone, but once the headstone was there it was "published". No different from a headstone in the 2010s, 1950s, 1840s, etc.

The upload was undertaken at Commons, and would appear to be in line with Commons policy. Closest that I see relates to living people per Commons:Photographs of identifiable people. I cannot comment on other wikis policies and how they countenance users and public information.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:40, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My main concern was about if the family of the deceased user has released the data which I was talking about (the ones which were made available that the family released). Thanks for the explanations, billinghurst. --justinianus | talk 12:50, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
