European Union neighbour states by freedom[edit]

Hello! Is North Africa Europe? If we are talking about Europe in a geographical context, then Cyprus (which is located in Asia, but is a member of the EU) must also be cut from the map. For this reason, I previously expanded this map to the borders of the countries of the Caucasus, in order to demonstrate the widespread definition of Europe in a political context. I previously made a mistake when formatting in SVG, but I hope you can expand the map correctly. Рагин1987 (talk) 08:04, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The map is showing the European Union, not Europe. The map is good as it is, no need to include Caucasus. Cyprus is part of the EU (and of the political Europe; Europe is not just a geographic concept). --Nablicus (talk) 10:02, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop inserting your new map in the article Politiska system inom Europeiska unionen on Swedish-speaking Wikipedia. The article is about the EU, not Europe. No reason to include other countries far away from the EU. Your agenda to include Georgia specifically when the article has nothing to do with that country is POV. --Nablicus (talk) 12:06, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Eurozone map[edit]

It will need touching up in 55 minutes. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eurozone_Internal.svg HelpfulHens (talk) 22:08, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Status of Cyprus on your maps[edit]

Hi, it seems that on most of your maps, the island of Cyprus is split in two. This is de facto the case. However, all countries other than Turkey recognise Cyprus as one de jure country. This includes all member states of the EU, of which Cyprus is one. It would thus make more sense to show it as one unified island, in my opinion, as this reflects the situation from the standpoint of the majority of the world, and the viewpoint of the European Union. XA1dUXvugi (talk) 15:34, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The northern part of Cyprus is shown as separate from the rest of Cyprus since the application of EU law is suspended in those areas in accordance with protocol 10 on Cyprus, attached to the 2003 Treaty of Accession. It has nothing to do with recognition. --Nablicus (talk) 15:47, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, that makes sense. One question though, why don't these two maps have a divided Cyprus? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:International_usage_of_the_euro_in_Africa.svg and https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Common_visa_policy.svg XA1dUXvugi (talk) 18:16, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Simply because I haven't bothered to split up the country. But you are right that in principle it should. I will see if I get time to do it sometime soon. --Nablicus (talk) 19:43, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Andorra is De Facto Schengen[edit]

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Map_of_the_Schengen_Area.svg It says it here. https://andorraguides.com/visa/schengen/ HelpfulHens (talk) 13:50, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as your reference clearly points out, there are border controls between Andorra and the Schengen area. They are not parties to the Schengen acquis either. They are thus neither de facto nor de jure members of the Schengen area. Nablicus (talk) 23:40, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

St Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica and Fiji[edit]

They need turning grey as they have no official railway network that is in use. St Kitts has a tourist one that circles the island but that's it. Can you turn them grey please? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rail_gauge_world.svg HelpfulHens (talk) 19:01, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Negotiations:[edit]

Albania and North Macedonia technically didn’t start their accession negotiations yet even though they were opened, so under the rationale of Ukraine and Moldova, wouldn’t they also just be candidates? Aimmella12 (talk) 20:20, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Once accession negotiations have been opened, the negotiations take place at an intergovernmental conference, source: [1]. On 19 July 2022, the EU held its first intergovernmental conference with Albania and North Macedonia. So yes, the negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia already started, in contrast to Moldova and Ukraine. --Nablicus (talk) 20:25, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
