The color codes for 2001 through 2004 are incorrect. Jim Jeffords left the Republican Party in May 2001 and caucused with the Democrats giving them control of the Senate. In 2003 the balance of power shifted back to the Republicans. 2001 and 2002 should be purple, while 2003 and 2004 should be red.
