Volvo?[edit]

Is this a Volvo? It sure looks like a Volvo cabin from the FL series, but I have no idea how it ended up anywhere near Katrina...? G®iffen 15:04, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It appears from the image that the truck was owned or operated by Roko's Oysters & Seafood Inc., (985) 657-5344, Empire, LA, and carried a THERMO KING TD-II MAX refrigeration unit. However, it appears from at least five google hits that Roko's is currently at 112 Bowers Ln, Buras, LA 70041, very close (about 0.7 miles driving distance) to the middle of Empire, LA, and may have had "Empire" on its truck for advertising reasons only. You could, of course, call them and ask (they don't seem to have email), but that could be expensive from Denmark, or you could ask Infrogmation to call or stop by.   — Jeff G. At this point I copied the text to Infrogmations talk page. Underneath I insert the response from that. G®iffen 17:27, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That is a couple hours from me. I could make a telephone call-- what specifically do you want to find out? I'll note that I don't know anything myself about the truck in the photo, but that Volvo vehicles are sold and not unusual in the United States. Almost every building in lower Plaquemines was either destroyed or so damaged that ith had to be rebuilt gutted to the frame, so it isn't so unexpected that some businesses may have moved their address when they were able to reopen at all. If I remember correctly (I've only been down there a couple of times, and not since the disaster) Empire and Buras are part of a long narrow stretch of community along the highway on the lower Mississippi, rather than discrete towns. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 14:26, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, more than one hour is a long way to a dane, more than a half is only when you have other things to do there anyway. The main topic is to find out what truck it is, and if Volvos are sold there, I'll just categorize it as such. I just thought Volvo were only sold in the White brand except for a few hooded models. I've only herard of the Volvo FL series in Europe and Asia before. G®iffen 17:23, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It appears from the Volvo Trucks - North America product page that the FL series is not sold in North America, like it is in Denmark.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 02:19, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Volvo FL
I might be wrong too, but can we agree that the cabin looks like the one here in the thumb? Maybe they're sold in middle/south America and imported, or the cab is a rebadge? Any theorys? G®iffen 17:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll agree that they look similar, but Volvo's website doesn't feature any FL products in any country in Central America or South America, either. If it is an FL, it must have been sold on another continent.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 17:43, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've just noticed via Youtube that the cab is seen in i.e. Los Angeles a Volvo FE. G®iffen (talk) 16:26, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
