Yes, it is error spelling, I might get around to fixing it, but it is png so it shouldn't be too hard.  The Windler talk  10:53, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it is compressed now and I don't have the file, so sorry, but I couldn't be bothered recreating it.  The Windler talk  10:53, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Licence dispute

[edit]

If the original map is GFDL how can this derivative work be PD? -- pne (talk) 08:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure about the GFDL licence, should it be the same, like Creative Commons Share Alike licence?  The Windler talk  10:47, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
You should follow the terms of the GFDL if you create a work based on another work that is licensed under those terms; if you are unsure what it means, consult a lawyer.
Inofficially, I would suggest asking the author of the original image if he would re-license it to you under an easier-to-understand license (maybe CC-BY?); personally, I find the GFDL annoying and inappropriate for images (which don't have chapters or pages).
Failing that, you could licence your map under the GFDL and point to the original with its modification history.
But what it really necessary to comply with the GFDL in the case of an image, I don't know. It's a pretty big licence and, as I said, not terribly suited to images IMO. The only way to be sure is to ask a lawyer. -- pne (talk) 12:37, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have revoked my public domain licence and instated the same licence as the original image. It's annoying, but I don't really mind, it's still free.  The Windler talk  13:00, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
