Identification

[edit]

@Ermell: Hello. The fungus in the photo is not an earth ball (Scleroderma), it is a puffball (Lycoperdon, etc.) The very good resolution allows to see that it is covered above in tiny wart-like scales which run down onto the "foot", becoming pyramidal and bigger. Scleroderma scales are quite different, flat and much larger. The "foot" of Scleroderma verrucosum is white and distinct from the surface of the "ball", unlike here. I suggest that the species could be Lycoperdon perlatum or what was called Lycoperdon pyriforme (now Apioperdon pyriforme). Anyway, if there is no more available identification information I would recommend to categorize it as "Unidentified Lycoperdaceae". Can I go ahead and change the category etc.?
