Fake background and coordinate issues[edit]

This picture imported from Unsplash has been manipuilated heavily. I was about to nominate it for deletion because of the faked background, but I suppose it might have some educational use for demonstrating this technique. This is, in a way, the opposite of Selective desaturation: The paving stones were colorized in post. There are some clear signs for that:

  • Some areas that should be purple are not. This is easy to see at the bottom left, where the shadows of the stones on the left fall onto the adjoining stone on the right.
  • Some areas that should be not be purple have been colorized. Some sections of the pants and shoes that had a color that was similar to the paving stones were turned purple. (e.g. below the NIKE logo on the right sneaker; the mid-tones of the pants)
  • The dead give-away are the plants in the bottom left corner, that show a very punchy purple.

The coordinates 30°25′40″N 9°35′53″W / 30.4277547°N 9.5981072°W / 30.4277547; -9.5981072 are also wrong. Interestingly, Google Street View has imagery for almost exactly this location: [1].

Hence, I'm going to:

  • remove the wrong/fake coordinates
  • remove Category:Agadir, as this shows nothing relevant to the city and may have been taken somewhere else
  • add {{Retouched}}
