Croatia[edit]

Croatia is already taking part in Schengen preparations. Please mark Croatia as a yellow state. See National Program of the Republic of Croatia regarding EU accession (2007), p. 329 (Croatian) or Press release. --Minestrone 15:49, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the interests of keeping it simple, lets not. All candidate countries will join therefore they are all interested. It should be kept as those who would join separately. Unless there is some kind of separate marking for EU candidate or you can find something saying they want to join sooner than they enter the EU. - J Logan c/en: 18:38, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with JLogan. You might not know this, but since the w:Treaty of Amsterdam the w:Schengen Agreement is incorporated in the Treaty text. So, because Croatia is negotiating with the EU on membership since October 2005, they are also negotiating and taking preparations for the implementation of the Schengen Agreement. The yellow colour is only for states that wish to join Schengen alone (and not the EU), like JLogan said. Maartenvdbent 18:52, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, but then you would have to modify the legend. Explain it better. That wasn't clear to me. --Minestrone 13:55, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Too many colors?[edit]

I think Switzerland should get the same color like Poland etc. because they are just preparing to implement the agreement. What do the colors of Monaco and San Marino mean? --Philipp

According the French Wikipédia, Monaco is considered as part of France for the purpose of the Convention application. Passport controls in the port of Monaco are performed by the French authorities. There is no airport per se in the principality and all roads between the Rock and France are opened without any control. Yanik Crépeau 15:18, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ireland and the United Kingdom have signed the Schengen treaty[edit]

... without implementing it. That should be shown on the map, but somehow differently than Switzerland, Romania and Bulgaria, since the two countries do not intend to implement the free travel. --L.Willms 08:23, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is that both UK and Ireland have not signed to become full fledged member in the future but to be part of the database sharing implemented by the Convention for police purpose. Other countries (like the USA for instance) could have similar agreements. Yanik Crépeau 15:29, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
