@Pratishkhedekar and Hindustanilanguage: : Is there a reliable source for the claim that this is a picture of Sadashivrao Bhau with Ibrahim Khan Gardi? The source cited on the image page simply states that this is a "Picture of a Maratha Peshwa with his Courtiers. Detail from a Dakhani Miniature Painting, 18th century". The source thus directly contradicts the claim made in the description / file name, since Sadashivrao Bhau was not the Peshwa, but a nephew of one Peshwa and a cousin of another Peshwa. @Utcursch and Hindustanilanguage: : Hi. This miniature is hosted at the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, Pune, India. It is also on the cover of "Solstice at Panipat" by Dr. Uday Kulkarni. I've also reached out to it's author to ascertain whether it is contemporary or later period, or a reproduction of an original miniature.
Also, this is my first time using File talk, so if I've made any errors, please guide me. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pratishkhedekar (talk • contribs)
Does the caption at Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum state that this is an image of Sadashivrao Bhau with Ibrahim Khan Gardi? What about Solstice at Panipat? (it is not a great source, though, as the author is a retired surgeon rather than a trained historian). Utcursch (talk) 15:18, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the caption at Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum is specific about the identity Sadashivrao Bhau with Ibrahim Khan Gardi. Yes, the author is a retired naval surgeon. But you have to read the book before making any assumptions. The book is based on primary sources, some hitherto unpublished, which is what is expected of a historian. Furthermore, I had mailed the author yesterday, and here's a quote from him.

The original pic is in the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum in Pune. I obtained a copy of it. It is old,, perhaps 18th C, but as many of our art works are undated, this cannot be proved.

If still you aren't satisfied, I might go to the museum, on my next visit to Pune in Jan next year. I hope till then the file isn't deleted. Pratishkhedekar (talk) 03:33, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
