Context[edit]

It would be better if it included context instead of floating in space. At least the coastlines, water, and boundaries of adjacent oblasts, and I suppose then occupied territory should follow through as well.  Michael Z. 2022-10-01 19:55 z 19:55, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see that the boundaries do not correspond to the Kherson oblast boundaries. The oblast boundaries should be indicated so it’s possible to compare the claimed territory to subdivisions of Ukraine. Michael Z. 2022-10-01 20:31 z 20:31, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Michael Z. what do you think of the current version? Physeters 00:34, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Physeters, that looks much better. Thanks.
I hate to tell you this, but in today’s news, Putin’s spokesman said that the borders of the already-“annexed” Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts are as yet undetermined (presumably because the Russians don’t know what they’ll be able to hold in light of Ukrainian advances, and/or because Putin is waffling).[1]
Especially in light of this, it looks weird to see a hard black border where there really isn’t one, but only bits of the actual borders drawn on the map with dashes. If I were making a map today, I would show the proper oblast boundaries (and label the neighbouring oblasts), and let the “occupied territory” and text in the map caption or legend explain that the annexation is as yet geographically undefined. Michael Z. 2022-10-03 22:06 z 22:06, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Apostrophes and Askania-Nova[edit]

All cities are written without an apostrophe (Novotroitske and Nova Zburivka). Separately, it`s Askania-Nova. Uliana245 (talk) 18:09, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The exact borders[edit]

I find it hard to believe that the russians occupied exactly the same territory as the artificial administrative borders of the north of Kherson Oblast. They're literally squares and straight lines. We have a map here in Commons [2] showing how the administrative borders and the extent of the russian occupation in the area at its peak overlap, with some small parts of Kherson Oblast remaining free while a few border areas of Mykolaiv Oblast being occupied. DeepStateMap shows something similar too [3]. I think this issue should be resolved as it otherwise looks as if the russians had always limited themselves to Kherson Oblast as if that was their real objective since the start, when what they wanted was to take all of Ukraine. Also per the first map I attached, the villages of Fedorivka and Nova Zorya never fell, although DeepStateMap does show that the latter was recaptured from russian occupation. Physeters, do you think you could work on this? Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 13:49, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I'll have it fixed by tonight. Physeters 20:26, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Super Dromaeosaurus ✓ Done! I don't know how I didn't notice this before. My apologies! Physeters 20:43, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Great job. Thank you. Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 20:56, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Crossed the Dnipro[edit]

Ukraine crossed the Dnipro and liberated a small amount of territory. ISW Map DinoSoupCanada (talk) 20:05, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Crossed it from Kherson. DinoSoupCanada (talk) 20:06, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DinoSoupCanada ✓ Done! The area is really small and kind of hard to see, but it is just south of the Kherson City circle. Physeters 06:09, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! DinoSoupCanada (talk) 20:43, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
