Image orientation[edit]

I've been trying to correct, what to me seems a blatant error with this file. As shown in the coat of arms of these Lancashire councils, convention dictates that the middle sepal on the Lancashire rose points upwards. Sources Lancashire Evening Post - New Flag Regimental handbook of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment p21. Earlier versions were in the correct orientation, but the newest isn't.

However I've been met with unexplained reverts and an accusation of edit warring. As I feel there is no acceptable option but to revert again I'll put this here in the forlorn hope that it will somehow lead to a discussion.--Trappedinburnley (talk) 09:07, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

But one of the sources you've linked, the Regimental handbook, says explicitly: "The Red Rose of Lancaster, an heraldic depiction of the ancient Rosa Gallica Officinalis, is a semi-double red rose with five petals. It is heraldically immaterial in what way the petals are placed: usually the rose is represented with two petals at the top with a single sepal between pointing upwards, but it is equally correct with a single petal at the top and on our badge and crest the Red Rose takes this form." So, it is necessary to have two files: one with middle sepal down and one with middle sepal up, and which is chosen will depend on each individual use. It gives the impression that they're a little tired of getting told the rose is upside-down, no? Two versions works for me.--Trappedinburnley (talk) 17:49, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
