Israel[edit]

Israel publicly condemned the coup [1]. Please update the map to include this information. GoldyyDev (talk) | 20:21, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GoldyyDev: Israel doesn't condemn explicitly, so it's light green (your source is front page of a newspaper, not of a specific article). --KajenCAT ( talk) 00:25, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@KajenCAT: Seems like Wikipedia has stripped down the URL params, here is a direct link:

@GoldyyDev: Still the same. But finally I found the official source [2], so here Israel MFA doesn't condemn any coup or mention it.--KajenCAT (talk) 19:37, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Philippines[edit]

@KajenCAT: The Philippines shouldn't be yellow, as per The Philippine Star. It was true initially, with the presidential spokesperson saying the coup is an internal matter that the country shouldn't intervene but the Department of Foreign Affairs, which has more say on the foreign policy of the country (and the more updated stance) says that the country is deeply concern, particularly "particularly the safety of its leader Aung San Suu Kyi who along with other officials was arrested in a military takeover" and noted the country's previous role in democratization - "“Myanmar has made substantial and important strides toward democratization in recent years,” the DFA said. “The Philippines has supported these efforts.”"Hariboneagle927 (talk) 07:20, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Hariboneagle927: You are right, I had only seen the initial reaction. Thank you very much!--KajenCAT (talk) 08:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistencies with the main article[edit]

I thinks dark green should also include countries the euphemistically called the coup as a "setback to democracy" or called for the release of detainees which in my opinion goes beyond from just "expressing deep concern". Japan for example, don't have the word "condemn" in its stance but arguably is more than "deep concern" - [3] explicitly calling for the release of detainees and says that it was opposed to "moves going backwards".Hariboneagle927 (talk) 07:27, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also China historically has been non-interventionist when it comes to coups which would make them yellow, dialogue, they merely "noted" the coup, but also called for dialogue like many other states that merely expressed "deep concern". So I suggest overhauling the color coding since its hard to distinguish light green and dark green when the map is rendered in smaller sizes.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 07:39, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dark green –condemned the coup or called the coup a setback to democracy, urged the release of detainees
Yellow – expressed concern/called for dialogue (Does not matter if its just a statement noting the development, a plain concern, or a "deep concern" if it does not satisfy the condition above; it should be yellow)
Grey - No statement at all / explicit neutral stance (So this would include Thailand and Cambodia which has a "no comment" stance [4] unless they release a future statement)
@Hariboneagle927: Remember that dark green is for countries that consider the events in Myanmar on 1 February 2021 as a coup d'état (or similarly as a seizure of power by the military). In the case of Japan and with the references you have given me, it is not explicitly mentioned anywhere (only the newspaper consider it) and, in fact, the statement is very similar to those categorised as light green.
The explicit neutral stance is yellow, basically, those countries that doesn't take explicitly one side. There a difference to say something about this to not. I hope I have expressed myself well and if you have any doubts or disagreements, let me know. Thank you, --KajenCAT (talk) 09:03, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Malaysia[edit]

@KajenCAT: Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on the coup and stated that "Malaysia views with serious concern" [5], hence I think Malaysia should be classified as light green. Bfyhdch (talk) 14:22, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bfyhdch: You're right. I'll update the map. Thank you. --KajenCAT (talk) 16:21, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bolivia[edit]

It looks like Bolivia (and maybe Venezuela?) should maybe be a different color according to these reports: https://www.france24.com/en/asia-pacific/20210212-un-demands-myanmar-release-aung-san-suu-kyi-reinstate-govt https://www.aa.com.tr/en/asia-pacific/un-rights-body-calls-on-myanmar-to-release-suu-kyi/2143216

They seems to have joined Russia, China et. al calling it an "internal affair" Øln (talk) 15:45, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
