Date of this map

[edit]

Although the source web page gives the publication date as 1657, the map depicts the gardens west of the Palais des Tuileries and those of the Palais Royal as they appeared prior to the 1652 map of Gomboust (see File:1652 Gomboust Map of Paris, France (c. 1900 Taride reissue) - Geographicus - ParisSm-gomboust-1900.jpg). It is much more similar to the ca. 1648 map of Boisseau (see File:1654 Plan de Boisseau.jpg). I think we maybe should somehow modify the date information to reflect this. --Robert.Allen (talk) 19:18, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Like the Boisseau map, this map depicts the Parterre de Mademoiselle (garden east of the Palais des Tuileries), which according to Hazlehurst was executed in 1638, so it must be after this date. --Robert.Allen (talk) 19:33, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
