Wrong description?

[edit]

I have seen this picture before in the Library of Congress catalogue (http://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/stereo/item/2002712574/)

There it is listed as a photographer taking a picture, not of a cameraman filming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.161.106.18 (talk • contribs)

Certainly there is no indication that a motion picture is being made, and every indication that it the camera man is using a stereoscope camera. I presume you're talking about the name of this file, rather than the description. I don't know what type of negatives Underwood & Underwood were using for stereograms at the time (film, glass plate still, whatever), but the term "filming" in naming the image does seem at least potentially misleading. Unless the uploader cares to offer an explanation as to why "filming" is appropriate for this image, I will propose a renaming. -- Infrogmation (talk) 20:07, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I notice the uploader hasn't been active on Commons since 2007, so I'll put a rename tag on the image page forthwith. -- Infrogmation (talk) 20:10, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
