Not CCBY[edit]

@Sfdiversity: Thanks for uploading this important useful image. I just saw that it's actually licensed under CCBY-NC, not CCBY-SA. Sadly, the authors of those planetary boundaries papers seem to continuously fail to license their study or at least those images under CCBY – I don't know why that is (maybe somebody could ask them to relicense this image).

CCBY-NC is not a WMC-compatible license. Thus, this image – like the earlier image that you uploaded as well (it's CCBY-NC-ND 3.0) – needs to get deleted and I'll report it soon. It would be great if you or somebody else made a CCBY version that roughly fits their assessments. Prototyperspective (talk) 22:37, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • The image uploaded here is NOT the image that was published by Katherine Richardson, Will Steffen, Wolfgang Lucht et al, in 2023 under CC BY-NC 4.0 (see https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.adh2458). The image shown here is a different design, with different order of boundaries (e.g. green/blue freshwater) that is closer to an earlier 2022 versions of the graph. However, the image is not only a redesign, it also expresses different values, most notably the earlier cut-off of the uncertain extent of genetic biodiversity integrity loss. It should not be deleted based on the NC-based criticism above, but it should be clearly stated whether this image is a recreation or whether it has a different source. Thank you for clarifying! Could either of you please:
    • specify which image was used for the globe so that one can check whether it's CCBY
    • change the "Source" file in the image description to make clear that this was made new and that only the data source is that study / that it is based on the study but made anew
