I am almost completely certain that this cannot be an image of the Nidaros cathedral. Compare with present images such as Image:Nidarosdomen.jpg. The building on this image is a bit smaller, and has conical domes not present in our time. The shape of the windows is also highly dubious IMO. I find it hard to believe that it could have undergone such a dramatic rebuilding into a completely different style in just a hundred years, as the cathedral was mostly finished in the 1300s. Nevermind — it turns out that the cathedral has indeed been extensively rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries. The modern elements (such as the baroque dome over the octogon) have recently been replaced by replicas of the original 14th century elements, which were lost. See [1] (search for "1869"), which looks quite similar to this photo. My apologies. Arj 15:33, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Indeed there was a major reconstruction starting in 1869. But you can still see similarities in newer pictures of the cathedral. For example: [2], [3], [4]. --Jofi 26 June 2005 17:22 (UTC)
