Source?[edit]

The uploader gives "A Photographic Trip Around the World, John W. Illiff & Co., Chicago, 1892" as the source of this file. It should be note that such a title is not listed in either the Library of Congress nor the Canadian AMICUS. Would it be possible to provide an author? --Zenwort (talk) 10:56, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly this "Publisher's blad (salesman's sample dummy). Printed in red on title page: Sold by subscription only. Copyright entered by J.A. Bradley. Title page printed in black and red. Final gathering of 4 leaves is form for subscription list preceded by a full page ad and price list. Front cover and flap are sample of "silk" cloth binding; back cover and flap are full morocco sample; brown end papers with sample spine of the cheap edition mounted on the front paste down.

Beschreibung: [18] p., [40] leaves of plates : ill. ; 22 x 27 cm." but that's a different publisher. --Zenwort (talk) 11:03, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

" title is not listed in either the Library of Congress nor the Canadian AMICUS." So?
Here's a photo of the title page
OK? And if I no longer had access to this (as is the case with a large amount of material I could access before late August 2005), would that make any difference? Wondering... Also, in the future please be sure to notify the uploader on their talk page about questions regarding source. Thanks! -- Infrogmation (talk) 04:40, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.: Pardon if my tone is harsh. Sorry, but I still get emotional over having lost a large part of my personal collection in Hurricane Katrina and various libraries in the area losing much of their collection in the same disaster, and I fear my emotion affected my reply. I have the unusual good fortune of being able to display a photo of the title page of the work you ask about. I hope this is satisfactory. Infrogmation (talk) 04:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
