Are there references to back up the colour selection of any of the countries/regions represented by this map? The historical French Indochina encompassing today's Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam does not, to my knowledge, have much of any linguistic remnants from this time. I would like evidence that French is of any real significance in these countries today. Similarly, the substantial French-speaking minorities of India and South Africa are unknown to me and I would like proof of their existence (and perhaps some substantiation of what is deemed significant). On the other hand, the importance of francophone minority communities in countries such as Libya and Egypt as well as countries such as Syria and Lebanon seem understated.

Rest of Canada

[edit]

Can someone please update the rest of Canada to be coloured the "administrative language" colour? Calling it a "non-official language" is legally incorrect. --Arctic.gnome 00:16, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pondicherry

[edit]

Technically, Pondicherry should be light blue (and not just green), as French is an official language there. Jade Knight (talk) 20:06, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

“French minorities”

[edit]

Please give sources for the existence of local “French minorities” (numbers of native speakers) in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. --Babelfisch (talk) 02:42, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
