Adding a note on publication date.[edit]

JKadavoor Jee says: "I see nothing wrong in noting down the date of publication." Taivo says: "Both dates must be given." Sounds like consensus to me. Vzeebjtf (talk) 11:05, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And right after that he admits to having a doubt, so there is no consensus, and your continuing to add an opinion to the description, arguing that you know better thanb the professionals at the New York Public Library does a disservice to our readers. • I did a little more research; the results:
  • They are named "Perris, W. Maps of the city of New York. 1857". Because all maps Depicts: 1857 irrespective of the publishing year. See [1], [2]
  • "Perris, W. Maps of the city of New York. 1857-62" is also used. Because they were published from 1857 to 1862 (Vol 1 and 2 are published on 1857, 3-6 on 1859 and 7 on 1862). See [3] Perris. Maps of the city of New York (7 v.) (3rd. ed) Contents: v.1 (1857)--v.2 (1857)--v.3 (1859)--v.4 (1859)--v.5 (1859)--v.6 (1859)--v.7 (1862) NYPL Digital Gallery
  • So, if any plan to record the year of publishing (v.5 (1859)); please specify the maps depicts 1857 of that place to avoid any confusion. JKadavoor Jee 05:35, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
