Agency responsible for photograph

[edit]

I've changed attribution to the Office of War Information, Bureau of Overseas Publications because that is the predecessor agency of the United States Information Agency, which was not established till 1953. A search of the online OWI archive (which unfortunately only extends to 1945, so it couldn't include this image), show a number of photographs of the Union Stockyards of a similar character taken by them in the 1940s.--Pharos 23:36, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, this looks very much like a 1941 OWI photograph by w:John Vachon seen here, though the copy we have here is zoomed-in and is much higher quality. It would be quite easy to confuse a handwritten "1941" with a "1947".--Pharos 00:56, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, if anyone's reading this, it would be more likely that 1947 was just the year that this photograph was filed into another government agency. Not that it's relevant, particularly.--Pharos 23:03, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In 1941 actually, the FSA had not yet been merged into the OWI, so I've now re-credited this to the FSA, which is the agency Vachon worked for.--Pharos 01:22, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
