This is very likely a misidentified Knautia species, not Scabiosa columbaria. The plant has just too many spreading hairs and the long lobes of the flowers near the edge would be unusual for Scabiosa columbaria. --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 14:50, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Last year I took this photo of the same plant: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stanzebla/10214925575/in/set-72157632978682469 Maybe it helps for the identification. You know I know nothing about the plants I take photos of. And I'm always glad, if you help me to identify them. I just don't want to get too much on your nerves.--Stanzilla (talk) 15:49, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry, but I am even less sure about the genus of the plant on your Flickr photograph. Knautia and Scabiosa are rather tricky. Knautia has usually got 4-lobed flowers, Scabiosa 5-lobed flowers. In some areas the leaves would be helpful, but the calyx of the individual flowers is needed in some cases. Unfortunately I have not even got a species checklist or a flora for northern France. So I cannot help you at the moment, but asking me for an identification is never a problem. I might overlook the question and I do not always know the answer, but I certainly do not mind being asked. --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 23:04, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
