Author info[edit]

John Foxe is listed as the author here. Did he in fact create the image? If so, who commissioned the work? Was it ever published? More information is needed in order to make a determination as to whether or not it qualifies for Commons. —Eustress talk 01:07, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Because there was no appropriate image illustrating Joseph Smith translating the Book of Mormon by looking at a stone in his hat–as all who witnessed him translate said he did—I asked ("commissioned") a female relative to make a rough artistic representation based on the best written descriptions, which we talked through. The artist gave me all rights to the drawing, and it remained unpublished until I uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons. Hopefully at some time in the future she will be able to create a more finished illustration.--John Foxe (talk) 01:36, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
All right, thanks. —Eustress talk 01:59, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
