Identification[edit]

@Robert Flogaus-Faust: Hello. I don't think this can be Gymnopus confluens, of which the cap and stipe should be much paler. But I don't know what it is. I suggest category "Unidentified Gymnopus". Best wishes, Strobilomyces (talk) 19:16, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider https://nafoku.de/forum/201808_0093_0001.htm and the following discussion (in German) for the ID. There is a longer response on your talk page. --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 07:41, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Robert Flogaus-Faust: . Thank you very much for your answer. I can read German reasonably well and you evidently did not arrive at the identification lightly. Now I have removed the "disputed" template. Apparently I attached too much importance to the colour. At first I thought it looked like Gymnopus erythropus, but that shouldn't have hairs on the stem, and I couldn't find any other species which would fit. Still, I am not very happy having such an uncharacteristic photo in the Gymnopus confluens category, even if it is almost certainly correct. Isn't there a tiny possibility that it is a variety or a species which has never been documented? I have taken the liberty of making links from the description of the file to this talk page so that others will be able to find the justification for the identification. I should mention that File:Gymnopus confluens RF.jpg is the same thing, which I didn't realize at first. Strobilomyces (talk) 13:13, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. As I told you, I am not an expert for fungi. May be the species is just so variable; so an image of this peculiar variety may be helpful. The coordinates are there. If anyone wishes to check whether there is an unexpected species in the area, they might have another look at the area. Best wishes --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 20:51, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
