@Hectonichus: I've changed this to "Forficulinae female" in "Unidentified Dermaptera" and will aplly for a rename shortly, as the current name (Forficula pubescnes) is incorrect IMHO.

First, the current name for Forficula pubescens is Guanchia pubescens, but that's not the main problem.

The apex of the wing casings is straight, which is not good for Guanchia (apex should be obtuse, shorter on the inside). Also the glands on ab.3-4 are subequal whereas on Guanchia the gland on ab.3 should be clearly smaller.

To me, this specimen looks like a female Apterygida media, but I simply do not know all the Italian earwigs well enough to exclude all other species that Fauna Europaea lists for Italy.

So, it may be a good idea to ask a specialist. I will try to look around, but if you have a dermapterist friend who knows the Italian species, please do ask for his/her opinion :o)
