Oops[edit]

Please excuse my revert... I accidentally clicked the (rev) link and ended up reverting the image to a prior version. I have reverted it back to it's current version. —Umofomia 11:25, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Direct version[edit]

Heck, the official version of this flag can be downloaded in EPS format from that website linked to in the description page for this image, and then be converted directly to SVG using Adobe Illustrator or possibly CorelDRAW! Denelson83 05:54, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But the download page has nothing about copyright w.r.t. the ps file... Yaddah 04:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

note[edit]

I noticed that center of emblem is not in center of lenght and width. And construction sheets have rotation of emblem 13°48′ and 13,48°. -xfi- 18:53, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Denelson's idea of downloading the EPS file sounds a bit tempting now, since I am still getting complaints at EN over this image. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 20:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Denelson's idea is good, but on source pages is copyright Protocol.gov.hk -xfi- 13:40, 28 July 2006 (UTC) (note: Center of emblem on original PS file [1] is not in center of lenght.)[reply]
On second thought, let's just keep this, since this is the best attempt that anyone could do to faithfully reproduce the law, unless the creator of the PNG construction sheet image would like to make a new file for us. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 05:34, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Authorship of this image[edit]

Except the original designer(s), I suspect that if any other people is allowed to claim the authorship of this image?

Pretty much who ever uploaded a copy of this image here is considered a "co-author." While the original design for the flag itself will go to the gentlemen who created the flag for the HKSAR, but this image here was worked on by a bunch of folks. Are you trying to work on a paper or something that needs to know exact authorship? User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 03:50, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just want to clarify the meaning of "author" in "I, the author of this work, hereby release it into the public domain.".--Johnson Lau 07:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah; well, you can use the lastest edition if you want, but if you want to know all of the people who created or modified the image, you can do that too. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 02:07, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request[edit]

{{Edit request}} I request changing the flag to File:Flag of Hong Kong (fixed).svg which was constructed according to GB 16689-2004.The current version does not match with the standard. It was probably influenced by File:HKSARFlagConstructionSheet.png, File:HKSARFlagConstructionSheet 2.svg or File:HKSARFlagConstructionSheet.svg but none of these have a source. The bearing of the tip of the petal should be exactly 14° instead of 13°48'. The red color should follow File:Flag of the People's Republic of China.svg.

Also, please change "Approved on 4 April 1990" to "Approved on 10 August 1996". The design which was approved on 4 April 1990 is File:Flag of Hong Kong (1990).svg.--Mike Rohsopht (talk) 05:15, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Support The link provided for the flag has a dead link for the alleged source, Adobe Flash Player does not work anymore since it has been discontinued, and the mirror link for download also does not work. Please get a better source for the 14° angle and Chinese Red. It looks like it is actually measured 14° based on the requestor's sources on page 8. PyroFloe (talk) 00:23, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Rohsopht: , I have no objections, if the source says that it is 14° on page number 8 then I support the change, however I have no administrator rights to change it. I advise you to go to the Commons:Administrators' noticeboard or at Commons:Village pump to request a change, however the request may not be noticed immediately since I guess staff is pretty limited. PyroFloe (talk) 10:26, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@PyroFloe: Thanks. I find that 13°48' is given by the local law "Regional Flag and Regional Emblem Ordinance". However the law does not give the construction details. So I just follow GB 16689-2004 for the shape but change the angle to 13°48'. Actually the current version has the angle 13.522718°≈13°31'--Mike Rohsopht (talk) 12:14, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
