Blue is too dark[edit]

The blue used by the Blueshirts was w:Saint Patrick's Blue, not "dark blue" (The Blueshirts and Irish Politics, p67). That doesn't give a definitive answer for Image purposes, though, because the colour of "Saint Patrick's Blue" has varied a lot over the years. See Original Blue Shirt Uniform for an actual picture. The shirt and badge were probably somewhat darker when they were new, as washing will have bleached the colours; but nowhere near as dark as this SVG. The PNG File:Banner of the Blueshirts.png looks closer than this SVG, though not perfect. I surmise the reason people have not replaced the PNG with the SVG is that the SVG colour is so wrong. Admittedly this enamel badge is darker but it is a "reproduction" and I surmise the colouring is a (bad) guess by the reproducer. Jnestorius (talk) 14:45, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
