The Photograph shows what is actually The National Coastwatch Institution Station on Branscombe Hill overlooking Portland Bill. He original Coastguard station was close in the early 90's and was taken over by the NCI in 1996, and rebuilt to the station as shown. It is run by a team of volunteer watchkeepers, covering 3 x 4 hour shifts a day, 7 days a week, 364 days a year although a standby watch is available on Christmas day should the need arise.
