As far as I know the logo/symbol does not include the blue ring. Recording to my memories it should only be blue triangle on orange background. --|EPO| 19:58, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's difficult to say... First of all this logo differes -f.ex. in France it is not a circle, but a square, in USA the triangle is white and so on. In Poland it usually DOES include (majority of official sites, like here). If You know any international act stating it precisely --just say me, and I will change it. --MStankie 12:37, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've now sent an e-mail to the Danish Emergency Management Agency asking if there exist an international treaty (e.g. from EU or UN) specifying the logo and its use. Further if the logo is protected by copyright or is in public domain. --|EPO| 17:37, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
See if I can translate the answer:
The mark is described in The Protocol I to Geneva Convention, Part I, General Provisions, Chapter VI, Article 66 - Identification:
4. The international distinctive sign of civil defence is an equilateral blue triangle on an orange ground when used for the protection of civil defence organizations, their personnel, buildings and materiel and for civilian shelters.
And Chapter V, Article 16 - International distinctive sign:
1. The international distinctive sign of civil defence provided for in Article 66, paragraph 4, of the Protocol is an equilateral blue triangle on an orange ground.
2. It is recommended that:
(a) If the blue triangle is on a flag or armlet or tabard, the ground to the triangle be the orange flag, armlet or tabard;
(b) One of the angles of the triangle be pointed vertically upwards;
(c) No angle of the triangle touch the edge of the orange ground.
So to sum up: An equilateral blue triangle on an orange ground, which is recommended to point up and not to touch the orange edge.
But no answer about ownership. Though it must be as copyrighted as the Red Cross.
I recommend that the orange background on the image is made a bit larger in order to "better" center the triangle. And removal of the blue ring :) --|EPO| 18:13, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
After much effort Image:CivilDefense square.svg has now been uploaded. --|EPO| 23:32, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

brim[edit]

yea, it's a bit petty, but under the Geneva Conventions the corners of the triangle shouldn't thouch the brim of the orange background. Would be more correctly to draw the triangle not to the brim... ;-) --91.7.91.204 17:54, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I already removed the points of the triangle slightly away from the edge with the "01:22, 1 September 2011" upload, and can do so further if needed... AnonMoos (talk) 23:17, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be better to move them even more, because on small pictures you can't see it very well (but that's only a trifle of course ;-) ) --91.7.38.215 17:17, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
