This file does not have an author, that is the whole point. Rama (talk) 22:56, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Rama: I don't think this tag applies and I think this file in unfree. Wikipedia:File:Two suspects wanted by the FBI for the bombing.jpg was once similarly tagged, but, after [1], it was retagged as unfree because the "security cam = no copyright" justification is weak and ungrounded. -- Veggies (talk) 23:58, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright stems from Human creativity. No human, no copyright. Same as File:Macaca nigra self-portrait large.jpg. Rama (talk) 08:16, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. The monkey picture was taken by a monkey. Monkeys don't erect closed-circuit cameras. Closed-circuit cameras are not found in nature. A monkey did not take this image. This camera was erected and is owned by a human. Just like the image and discussion I linked (and that you failed to address). -- Veggies (talk) 13:37, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"Erecting" an installation is not an act of creativity.
The file to which you link is a clear-cut case of uncopyrighted material, and the link to the discussion is invalid. Rama (talk) 15:07, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I corrected it: [2]. -- Veggies (talk) 19:10, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Well I think the conclusions say it: they do no know and the image wass assumed to be non-free out of caution. Simply it was actually over-caution, an image such as this one cannot yield a copyright (the argument on ESA is a false analogy, ESA systems are deliberatly aimed at things and the results are post-processed to be aestetically pleasant; CCTV footage is a simple dumb mass recording and the extracts we have are not significantly post-processed). Rama (talk) 20:57, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Note when looking the internet everywhere is written that CCTV films the public domain. Secondly, there are even people making films from CCTV footage see for instance here. Sander.v.Ginkel (talk) 07:26, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
