Inaccuracy[edit]

This map is inaccurate per : * (1959) Historija naroda Jugoslavije. Knj. 2, Zagreb: Školska knjiga, (Zagreb : Grafički zavod Hrvatske), pp. 128−129 COBISS 41719815 Ivan VA (talk) 22:02, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Linked book has, between pages 128 and 129, a map of Bosnian eyalet with pretty much same borders as this map. Note that "pašaluk" has a same meaning as "eyalet" -- it is just colloquial name for the later, formal name of the administrative unit. Ђидо (talk) 05:55, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ђидо: The eye is in the detail. Thats what i was referring to. If you look closely at this map and the one in the book, youll see that the western and a part of the soutern border are not correct. Its not a minor thing. These were state borders which lasted for decades. Its not a small thing if on one pam a town isnt inside the Empire but on the other one it is. The map should be corrected per this book and the book should be put as a source. --Ivan VA (talk) 21:43, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you are saying. Only noticeable difference to me is location of Novigrad. There is a difference in Čazma, but that can be attributed to different years. Čazma was in Turkish hands in 1600 (map here), but was liberated in 1606 (year of map in the book). Ђидо (talk) 08:41, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ђидо: In the discription it says 'Alayet Bosnia around 1600'. So its a vague description. Also, the author doesnt cite any sources on this map. So were left to speculate. Best would be to reedit the map according to the book and put the year 1606. --Ivan VA (talk) 09:10, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
From the beginning of discussion, my impression was that you were complaining that map is grossly incorrect, but it seems that is has minor problems.
It seems that Novigrad is the biggest, because, on cursory look, seems that it was not under Turks at all (but I have no sources for period late-16th - early 17th century, so it may have been briefly under Ottoman control around 1600?)
Yeah, maybe the map should be fixed, I have no time, but you should feel free to learn one of million free graphics programs to fix up the map (on a PC, I would recommend https://getpaint.net)
