palsolidarity.org and travelblog.org copyright[edit]

The sources for the image are listed:

I see where the confusion concerning image license is coming from. Travelblog.org is a huge site with many blogs. After checking a few blogs at random I see that at the bottom of almost every blog page is this standard message:

"Copyright Notice: All Rights Reserved. The text and photos of this article remain the copyright of the Author [author's name here]. Under no circumstances should the photos or text be used without the express written permission of the Author [author's name here]. If you wish to use or publish photos or text from this article - please Contact [author's name here] - a lack of a response does not mean that you have permission to use material from this page."

The author was contacted, and he confirmed the image license. See the deletion discussion:

Also, many editors on Wikipedia and the Commons do not realize that a Creative Commons license such as the CC-BY-SA (Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported) license is a copyright. See en:Creative Commons licenses. It says: "Creative Commons licenses are several copyright licenses that allow the distribution of copyrighted works. The licenses differ by several combinations that condition the terms of distribution."

So the standard copyright notice at the bottom of the various Travelblog.org blogs does not conflict with CC-licensed images, since CC-licensed images are copyrighted. --Timeshifter (talk) 16:36, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
