Lion Sable

[edit]

"The accuracy of this coat of arms is disputed. The dispute is about: The blazon says "argent a lion sable", but the image is "argent a lion guardant sable".."
I do not believe that rampant is the default position for lions. The blazon does not specify the attitude of the lion. This artist has chosen to depict the lion regardant, but as long as it is a lion and it is Sable, it fits the blazon. Not ideal, but never the less correct.
