Roundel Proportions[edit]

Looking at the history of this file, there seems to have been a bit of an edit war between two different versions of the RCAF roundel: one with a 3:5 ratio of white to blue radii matching the RAF ensign and one with about a 7:10 ratio of radii matching the current RCAF roundel. User:fry1989 stated on one of the reversions to the 7:10 version "This is from RCAF documents.", but did not reference the documents. My question in reading this is whether the documents mentioned referred to the roundel generally or the flag specifically. While I have no doubt that the proportions of the RCAF roundel have changed since 1965, military flags are generally approved through different authorities and a change in the roundel marked on aircraft does not necessarily change the RCAF ensign. Notably, https://www.canada.ca/en/services/defence/caf/military-identity-system/flags.html shows the 3:5 ratio roundel on the RCAF ensign. Since this file has gone back and forth several times in the past, I'd like to discuss the reasoning here before single handedly making another change. @Cadet Pilot: That was so many years ago that I can't remember what document, but I know that I extracted the image. I'll look around and see what I can find. Fry1989 eh? 18:09, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
