Italian territory[edit]

There are two regions of Italian control missing from the map: w:Istria and the w:Dodecanese. See for example this map, which has the correct areas under Italian control (in red). ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 00:04, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also Belgium was not neutral. The whole of France was not under Vichy control (Atlantic Wall)

Not just that. The other mistake is Elsass belonging to France.--Adûnâi (talk) 20:21, 3 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

French and British colors are transposed; should be undone[edit]

This map, strangely, uses light blue for British-held areas and pink for French-held areas.

In most maps, France and its empire are shown in blue (sometimes light blue, purple, or lavender), while Britain and its empire are shown in pink (sometimes red).

As stated in w:Pink#Politics,

Also as stated in w:Political_colour#Red,

  • In the heyday of the British Empire before 1960, maps, globes, and atlases typically used red or pink to designate the Empire or its Commonwealth; the practice inspired the All-Red Route and the All Red Line This derived from the Redcoats traditionally worn by the British Army. Cite used in article: The Power of Projections: How Maps Reflect Global Politics and History Greenwood Publishing. p. 79. ISBN 9780275991357 – via Google Books.

See these maps:

I suggest switching the colors of this map (Africa1940.png) accordingly, making the British-held areas the customary pink and the French-held areas the customary bluish shade. To distinguish between Vichy France and Free France, I suggest using two different shades of blue.

Liberia as a Spanish Possession?[edit]

My understanding was that Liberia was never colonized since gaining it's independence in 1862, yet this map shows it as a Spanish possession. 2600:100F:B07F:735F:0:3:E533:7701 02:05, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
