Possible Legal Issue[edit]

Are these girls under 18? If so does this constitute child pornography in countries where it is illegal? If so, is this allowed to be posted online and hosted in a country with restrictions against it (as in the United States and United Kingdom) even for educational purposes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.47.65.168 (talk • contribs) 18. I would guess not since such laws didn't exist back then, and if it did, it would seem to violate the principles against ex post facto law.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 02:34, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In any case, there is nothing pornographic about the image (except insofar as filth is in the mind of the beholder). - Jmabel ! talk 02:48, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Mere nudity is not child pornography.--Prosfilaes (talk) 05:47, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Date of voyage and photography[edit]

The voyage of Ernst von Hesse-Wartegg take place in 1900 (see preface of the book "Samoa, Bismarckarchipel und Neuguinea - Drei deutsche Kolonien in der Südsee"). 1902 is the date of publishing. Therefore the description "3 Samoan girls 1902" is probably wrong. The original German description of the image in the 1902 book is "Mädchentypen" ("types of girls"). At no place in the book it is stated that the picture was made in 1902 (as far as I could see). Greetings,--Anglo-Araneophilus~commonswiki (talk) 07:27, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
