Cropped version with refined shapes[edit]

@Putitonamap98: You are aware, that the 455×810 version you keep replacing does have your improved shapes, right?
And you are aware of my edit in the article you mentioned? The county and precinct maps are aligned. Watchduck (quack) 20:54, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

what i mean by the precinct map is you have to go in to program like i did (i use inkscape). i copy the illinois county map and pasted the size of it onto the precinct map so it would be the same exact height and width then moved it until it entirely covered the shape file so it was 100 percent aligned. when you just change the map size on the wiki page it still doesn't 100 percent align like it originally did because it was made for the old dimensions and it also causes the infobox to shift back and forth as you click through the maps (it's most noticable on PC) anyways since you're so determined (and the only one who really cares enough to go back and redo all the county maps i will just redo the precinct, town, and congressional maps so they align 100 percent again since you won't. I just really wish we would finally agree on a style and stick to it this has been a project i have been working really hard on mostly by myself for the last two years and I don't want to have to ever do again. Btw what other state maps do you need to change dimensions for? so i can hold off on them for now. Putitonamap98 (talk) 02:55, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i will just redo the precinct, town, and congressional maps Thanks. I hope you do this in the code, and not in Inkscape. For my crops I have replaced width="810" viewBox="0 0 810 810" by width="455" viewBox="175 0 455 810". I have done this manually in a text editor, but for a large number of images it could also be done with a script. (Here I have done a mass replacement of color values.)
i have been working really hard on mostly by myself for the last two years I keep saying it, although apparently no one wants to hear it: Files like these should not be created in Inkscape, but with a script. The standard map has clean code, and can be used as a template. I can help, but I will also need help getting the election data in plain text.
what other state maps do you need to change dimensions for? Eventually all files with useless margins should be overwritten. (I have listed some examples on this talk page.) But this should be done for whole sets, using a script. (Gladly, someone has fixed the download tool Imker.)
so i can hold off on them for now No need for that. When a set like this consists only of squares, then keep adding squares to it. --Watchduck (quack) 10:07, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
