question...[edit]

Is it my imagination, or has that streetcar collided with that car?

Streetcar tracks don't come so near the corners of intersections nowadays. It can't be that the Peter DeWitt cars, like this one, had a broader turning circle, because the TTC still runs one, for cermonial purposes... Geo Swan (talk) 13:58, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's a really good point, and I think you're right. Either the streetcar has collided with the car, or the streetcar cannot advance any further because it is about to collide with the car. That might be the reason the photo was taken in the first place -- to document the collision or near collision. --skeezix1000 (talk) 15:38, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bloor Street not Bloor Avenue[edit]

My own knowledge of this roadway goes back 60 years. This is the first time I've seen it called an avenue. "Avenue" implies tree-lined which Bloor certainly is not. I can recall only one or two trees on it except where it passes the north end of High Park. — Robert C Freeman, Toronto

I am not sure of the connection between the name "Avenue" and trees, since most Avenues in Toronto are hardly tree-lined. In any event, the name of this photo refers to the intersection of Bloor Street and Avenue Road, and is not intended to refer to a Bloor Avenue.--Skeezix1000 (talk) 11:32, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
