Among scenes passed enroute to Gardiner,Paradise Valley forms a landscape of varied andimpressive beauty; Emigrant Peak is one of thehigher and nobler mountains of the range; atYankee Jim Canyon the river tears through thecanyon a resistless, rushing torrent; CinnabarMountain and the Devils Slide, near the track,together form a most interesting sight; Sepulcherand Electric peaks, at Gardiner, are high and mostimposing mountains, while the Entrance Arch, theartificial lake, and the graceful antelope oftenplacidly grazing on the cool green alfalfa-field justwithin the entrance, complete a round of prelim-inary landscape pleasures that forms a most effec-tive prelude to the greater scenic symphony to come.
