Description
English: TREASURE CASE : 2012 T784.

A complete cast and hammered silver sheet toilet implement of medieval date. The implement is a combined ear scoop and toothpick and nail cleaner. The toothpick and nail cleaner terminal is triangular in shape and tapers in thickness as well as width to a pointed tip. From the wider end of the triangular terminal a circular sectioned S-twisted shaft extends and is slightly bent in two places. The shaft opens into a sub-ovate scoop with concave front and convex reverse.
The metal has a shiny silver patina and survives in good condition.

Numerous similar cosmetic articles have been reported as Treasure for example 2002 T268, 2006 T623, 2006 T53 and 2008 T240 (SOM-B38BA2).

Discussion:
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
