Deutsch: Ein Jahr im ewigen Eis: EDEN-ISS-Antarktisgärtner Paul Zabel kehrt zurück
365 Tage in der Antarktis, davon 257 Tage abgeschnitten von der Außenwelt. Der Antarktisgärtner Paul Zabel vom Deutschen Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) hat die Gemüsezucht für Mond und Mars im EDEN-ISS-Gewächshaus erprobt und dabei Paprika, Tomaten, Gurken und verschiedenste Salate und Kräuter unter künstlichem Licht geerntet. Dem insgesamt zehnköpfigen Überwinterungsteam auf der Neumayer-Station III des Alfred-Wegener-Instituts (AWI) brachte er frische Abwechslung auf den Speiseplan, während sie gemeinsam in der wochenlangen Polarnacht ausharrten. Nun ist Paul Zabel nach Deutschland zurückgekehrt und berichtet in einem Pressegespräch am DLR-Standort Bremen erstmals nach der Ankunft von seinen Anstrengungen und Entbehrungen der letzten Monate, ebenso von den Freuden der Pflanzenzucht in der Extremsituation und seinem Leben auf dem siebten Kontinent.
