When we went to Cockatoo Island with the camera club on 1st April I took a photo of this rope. I was walking past it and happened to think it would make an interesting foreground subject so just plonked my tripod down, took one photo and kept on walking. I got home, was looking through my photos and immedietly fell in love with the rope. However there was so much about that first photo that irritated me, I could look at it and tell I hadn't spent any time on my composition. The rope was hanging out of the frame, i'd cut half the bollard off and there were no clouds in the sky... I processed the photo but I wasn't happy with it, so it has never seen the light of day, though I couldn't get the rope out of my head. I was lucky enough that my boss offered me a day off work on the friday after anzac day and no points for guessing what I was going to do with that... That's right, I hopped on the ferry across to Cockatoo Island and I reshot my rope. I spent about an hour playing around with a few different compositions and angles, and this is my favourite image.
