English: Traditional Maltese Lace-making. Maltese lace is a style of bobbin lace made in Malta. The ancient craft of lace making (maltese ‘il-bizzilla’), became popular in Gozo around the mid 1840’s and is a style of bobbin lace made using silk or linen thread worked as a continuous piece onto a tall, thin, upright hard pillow called a ‘trajbu’ made from straw and paper.
