Title
English: Winona Bailey at Dodwell-Rixon Pass, Olympic Mountains, 1927
Description
English:

Helen Winona Bailey (1873-1938) was born in Maine to Charles Harris Bailey (1849-1920) and Mary H. (Wilder) Bailey (1849-1897). The family moved to Colorado about 1890, then to Seattle around 1905. She was a Latin teacher in the Everett High School from about 1906-1912, and later head of the Language Department at Queen Anne High School. Winona was an avid outdoorswoman and a member of the Mountaineers Club. She was also a world traveler, making extensive journeys in 1922 and 1929, then speaking around Seattle about her experiences in Africa. This picture of Winona was taken at Dodwell-Rixon Pass in the Olympic Mountains, likely near to the spot where she survived a 75-foot fall 20 years previously.
