Description
English: Numerous wildfires are raging in the Iberian Peninsula. In Portugal, several blazes broke out on 7 July 2022 along the border of the Leiria and Santarem districts, in the Ourém municipality. The flames have affected more than 11,790 hectares of vegetation, in the vicinity of the town of Freixianda. This data visualization, based on Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) Rapid Mapping data, shows the affected areas as of 15 July 2022 at 10:42 UTC. CEMS was activated on 8 July and delivered 6 Rapid Mapping products, supporting first responders with an assessment of the extension of the wildfires and of the damage caused.
